How Manwe handles your data.

1. Who runs Manwe

Manwe is an independent beta product. For questions about this policy, contact [email protected]. The data controller for personal data processed through Manwe is the Manwe team at the same address.

2. Data we collect

Website (askmanwe.com): the site is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested path, timestamp) may be kept for security and operational purposes by the hosting provider.

Website analytics: the site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand, at an aggregate level, how pages are used. Analytics uses cookies and collects limited information such as page path, referrer, device type, approximate location, and a pseudonymous identifier. IP addresses are anonymized before processing. We do not use the data to identify individual visitors, build advertising profiles, or sell any information.

Mac beta app: the app runs on your Mac. Decision rooms, uploaded source material, and decision records you create are stored locally by default and are not transmitted to Manwe.

Cloud model runs: when you configure Manwe to use a cloud model, the content of that run, including your question, any source material you include, and generated responses, is sent to the model provider you selected under their own terms. Manwe does not retain a copy.

Beta download: the beta is distributed via GitHub Releases. GitHub may collect standard access information as described in its own privacy policy.

Guided run requests: when you request a guided run through the form on /download, the email draft includes the name, email, and decision description you entered, and is sent to [email protected] through your own mail client.

Direct emails: if you contact [email protected], your message and email address are retained so we can respond.

3. How we use your data

We use the limited data we receive to: (a) operate and secure the website and beta distribution, (b) respond to your questions and guided-run requests, (c) understand how the beta is being used at an aggregate level, and (d) improve the product. We do not sell personal data, we do not run ad tracking, and we do not profile users for advertising.

4. Third parties involved

A small number of third parties process limited data on our behalf or as independent providers you choose to use with Manwe:

• Cloudflare Pages, for static file delivery, DNS, and basic traffic analytics.
• Google Analytics 4, for aggregate website usage reporting. IP addresses are anonymized. Cookies set by Google Analytics are limited to this purpose.
• GitHub, for beta DMG hosting and release management.
• Model providers you select in the app (for example, Anthropic, OpenAI, or other providers you configure). When you use cloud model modes, content of your run goes to the provider under that provider's own privacy terms.
• Your email provider, when you email us or submit a guided-run request.

You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by enabling Do Not Track or similar privacy features in your browser.

We do not share decision records, uploaded source materials, or guided-run messages with any other third party for marketing, sale, or training purposes.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to the processing of personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis. To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected] and describe your request. We will respond within a reasonable time.

For content stored locally by the beta app (decision records, uploaded sources, configuration), the data is already in your control: you can view, export, or delete it directly from your Mac.

6. Retention

We keep email correspondence and guided-run messages for as long as necessary to respond and maintain a record of the conversation, typically up to 24 months, after which it is deleted unless a longer period is required by law. Aggregate access logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

7. Children

Manwe is not intended for children under 16. Do not use Manwe, send decision material, or request a guided run on behalf of a child. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.

8. International transfers

Model providers and service infrastructure may be located outside your country, including in the United States. By using cloud model modes or contacting us, you understand that your data may be processed in those locations under appropriate safeguards.

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect data we receive, but no system is perfectly secure. Do not send material through guided runs or email that you would not want disclosed in the unlikely event of a breach.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as the beta evolves. Substantive changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of the page. Continued use of Manwe after an update means you accept the revised policy.
